Through the management of Sales and Operations; the General Manager - Cleaning is able to acquire new business, grow and retain current contracts.

Education and experience required

  • Tertiary qualification
  • Minimum ten (10) years management experience in cleaning industry or similar service industry is essential
  • Experience in costing, budgets, forecasts are essential
  • Experience in highly commercial and sensitive markets
  • Experience of working within brand guidelines to deliver results
  • Proven experience in building and managing successful teams
  • Good knowledge of South African and Industry Specific Labour Laws
  • Key Account Management experience
  • Project Management
  • Operations Management
  • Exposure to Risk management methodologies
  • Sales experience

Key areas of responsibility

  • Formulate the Regional Sales and Operational Strategy to maximise revenue growth opportunities
  • Manage Senior employees to ensure that all operational issues are resolved
  • Monitor business direction to increase profitability and sustainability
  • Implement new business strategies and manage project roll outs
  • Lead the Sales Manager to achieve revenue growth for the region
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met and manage contracts within Service Level Agreements
  • Manage and support a diverse team of Regional Managers within the Gauteng space to ensure all operational requirements are met
  • Build and implement cost saving models
  • Partner with other business divisions to agressively penetrate the market as an organisation
  • Ensure labour force planning is adequately managed in relation to budget
  • Ensure adherence to HR processes and procedures relevant to employee management, i.e. salaries, recruitment, training, employee relations, leave etc., are effectively managed
  • Ensure correct and timeous communication to clients relevant to increases
  • Chair monthly meetings with regional team
  • Attend monthly Senior Management meetings
  • Manage and exceed client expectations in line with statutory Health, Safety and Environmental policies
  • Ensure compliance with all the regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act or any other regulation or Act that might refer to the matter of safety
  • Appraise all senior direct reports
  • Attend meetings with major clients
  • Continually look for ways of improving client contracts and promote the Company's full range of non-recurring business (specials) also with a view to selling the Company's full range of cleaning services
  • Responsible for the on-going training and development needs of all direct reports
  • Totally responsible for the achievement of Sales Budget for the respective Gauteng region
  • Develop action plans to address variances of any sort
  • Build innovative methods to grow the organisations brand
